Who are we:

Hytrans is an innovative and successful production organisation that develops and produces high-quality mobile water transport systems. Hytrans is the international market leader and supplies 'state of the art' mobile water transport systems worldwide that are used, among other things, in disaster relief and rescue operations. Approximately 80 motivated employees work in Lemmer to sell, develop, assemble and provide support for the products. 

We're looking for one Manager Engineering who helps Hytrans' engineering department grow and professionalize. You have experience with a project business in an innovative organization and are driven to seize market opportunities. Through your leadership, you contribute to expanding our position as a global market leader in the market for large water transport systems.

Job description

As Manager Engineering you report directly to the CEO and are a member of the MT. You are responsible for the development of the department that currently consists of 13 engineers divided over the disciplines of mechanics, electrical engineering and software development.

You are ultimately responsible for the engineering of customer and innovation projects and determining the technical feasibility for project requests. You monitor the department's performance and are driven to continuously improve it. Furthermore, you are well informed about current affairs and trends in the market and you respond to them effectively.

The position further includes the following (main) responsibilities and tasks:

  • You are responsible for the growth, structure, management and development of the department. This means attracting, guiding, inspiring, developing and assessing employees in collaboration with the Lead Engineers of various development groups.
  • You are ultimately responsible for departmental results for customer projects meeting agreed specifications, delivery time, costs. In addition, product designs also meet relevant regulations and requirements in the areas of quality, manufacturability, assembleability, maintenance and ease of use.
  • You are responsible for the Hytrans Innovation projects and the development of the patent portfolio.
  • You actively manage the growth of the number of reusable semi-finished products in the Hytrans product platform to continuously improve the productivity of design activities.
  • You ensure that the department can work productively and efficiently by using the right tools (ERP/PLM) and by continuously improving work agreements and processes.
  • You are responsible for creating and executing the annual department plan and the periodic reports in the MT. You will be involved in consultation with the shareholders several times a year.
  • In collaboration with the other MT members, you ensure optimal cooperation within Hytrans, resulting in an effective, customer-oriented organization.

What do we ask of you:

  • You have at least 7-10 years of work experience in a relevant management position
  • You have a HBO or WO diploma in a relevant technical field supplemented with business administration and leadership courses/training.
  • Experience in a project business where mobility is important (e.g. automotive, agriculture, yacht building)
  • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, drive technology, hydraulics, mechatronics. Fluid dynamics is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with international quality and relevant product standards.
  • A flexible, customer-oriented attitude and experience in a developing organization
  • Good command of English. German is a strong asset.
