Despite the beautiful weather, it was quite busy at the Career Day last Wednesday Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE). On this career day, students about to graduate could explore their future options after completing their studies.
The students, with the end of their studies in sight, are faced with an important choice: continue their studies or move into the business world. In addition to the academic paths that are promoted as standard at the RuG, working life is of course also an option. Students came up with questions ranging from: “I know exactly what I want” to “what can you do?”, which led to great individual conversations.
The ICD offers a nice leaflet with an extensive overview of companies and which of the various FSE study options they fit in well. This leaflet was therefore particularly popular among the students. The aim of the overview was to enter into dialogue and listen to the questions and ambitions of the students, and above all to discover where their energy lies.
The ICD presentation was also well attended, highlighting the full spectrum of career options. During the presentation, the desire to meet so-called T-shaped professionals was also emphasized, these are people with deep knowledge in their field and broad skills outside of it.
The students left at the end of the day with great enthusiasm and new insights. It is clear that we will certainly see some of them in the ICD companies in the future.
