Collaboration for regional growth
We are pleased to announce that Demcon, a leading company in technological innovation, has recently joined the Innovatiecluster Drachten (ICD). This collaboration marks an important milestone for the technology community in the Northern Netherlands and promises exciting opportunities for regional growth and development.
On March 25, 2024 the cluster celebrated this strategic collaboration, with approximately 40 guests present, including prominent representatives of the University of Groningen and Zernike Campus. The ceremony included inspiring contributions from local mayors, ICD members and Lars de Groot, Managing Director of Demcon Industrial Systems Groningen.
Lars de Groot stressed the importance of this collaboration and stated: “The challenges we face as a society require in-depth collaboration between various companies. Demcon is enthusiastic to join the ICD and contribute to innovation and progress in the Northern Netherlands.“
Mayor Rijpstra of the municipality of Smallingerland emphasized the importance of the collaboration, saying: “This cluster symbolizes the powerful interplay of business, educational institutions and governments, with the common goal of strengthening the position of the Northern Netherlands within the sector of high-tech systems and materials.”
Mayor Schuiling of the municipality of Groningen added: "I am pleased that Demcon Groningen is now part of the Innovatiecluster Drachten. This step not only strengthens our innovation cluster, but also illustrates the open-ended thinking that is essential for regional growth and cooperation.“
Demcon and ICD invite the community to participate in this new phase of innovation and collaboration, aimed at achieving sustainable progress and technological development in the North.
