Alderman Nieske Ketelaar stops

News | February 1, 2017

Nieske Ketelaar of the municipality of Smallingerland will not return as alderman during this period. This was announced by the municipality on Tuesday 31 January. After a period of almost 11 years in which she fulfilled her position with full commitment and enthusiasm, she has come to the conclusion in the last few months that she can no longer bring what she would like and what the municipality of Smallingerland and its inhabitants to deserve'', declares the municipality.

Inspiration

Ketelaar inspired us to go further than mutual cooperation between our high-tech companies. With her enthusiasm for our business cluster, she motivated the Province of Fryslân, ROC Friesepoort, the NHL University of Applied Sciences, the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen to embark on this high-tech adventure with us. Together with our cooperation partners, we have now succeeded in turning high tech into an economic engine for the Northern Netherlands.

We thank Nieske Ketelaar for her efforts and great confidence and wish her a successful follow-up career. We would like (who knows) to see her again in the public administration in Fryslân.
