Innovatiecluster Drachten waves goodbye to Peter de Haan
News | October 10, 2023
On Thursday, October 5, members of Innovatiecluster Drachten (ICD) gathered at BD Kiestra in a cordial and festive ambiance to bid farewell to a prominent member : Plant Manager Peter de Haan. After an impressive career, Peter decided to to embrace retirement. However, from his home base in Wartena, he will continue to closely follow the activities of the ICD.
Throughout the years, Peter's dedication to the ICD has been undeniable. In recognition of his longstanding commitment, Binne Visser, the chairman of ICD, presented him with the prestigious ICD medallion. It is remarkable that this medallion, also serving as a paperweight, was crafted with care and expertise by Winand Slingenbergh of Philips using a 3D metal printer in the SKILL lab in Drachten.
Peter's journey is deeply rooted in the Eindhoven region. He experienced first-hand how a previous employer approached their regional role, an experience that did not suit him very well. This personal encounter fueled his determination and passion for regional initiatives like the ICD. With the backing of BD as an organization, Peter has repeatedly showcased that local collaboration and development were at the heart of his vision.
His contribution to the ICD Safaris, Girls Days, Honors Programs, Dutch Technology Weeks and R&D projects are just a few instances highlighting Peter's significant influence. Not to forget the numerous tours we had the privilege to conduct at BD, both at the R&D centre and the production facility across the street.
On behalf of the entire ICD, we wholeheartedly thank Peter for his years of dedication, passion and leadership. Peter, enjoy your well-deserved retirement, and we look forward to greeting you many you many more times in the near future!
